A dog’s purpose :)

wish she was i πŸ™‚

This is not my literary creation. This is a mail I received a few minutes ago! The sweetest I’v EVER received, I must say. E.V.E.R ! I just could not resist the urge to put it up! All you dog lovers…enjoy this. And all you dog haters, enjoy this (and please, get a dog soon…at least get me one πŸ˜‰ my favourite breed’s picture is also included at the end of this post πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ )! πŸ™‚

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ‘I know why.’

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, ‘People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?’ The six-year-old continued, ‘Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.’

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher, you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

look how adorably comfy this one is!

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp and play daily

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

my dream doggie πŸ™‚

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

By far, my most image-heavy post πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I love dogs…and cant avoid putting in their pictures (its half past 12 and am damn sleepy! Else I’d have sourced more pictures πŸ˜€ )

  3. i know…we had a tough time when our ‘Pluto’ expired ! He was a naadan dog but looked like a dalmation. That guy never barked at strangers and was very paavam 😦
But ‘snowy’ is exactly opposite, he is one hell of a riot !

  4. The first three lines of Bittersweet Symphony:

‘Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
    Trying to make ends meet
You’re a slave to money then you die…

Hehehe… Why are we so hell-bent on becoming millionaires in life, when we can live happily with the one we love? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

  6. I have cynophobia, ever since I was attacked by one. I made plans to avenge the pain I had to go through, ….to kill that dog.. But eventually cynophobia was overpowering me 😦

Its not the street dogs that I fear off, any dog.

Any houses I visit, if they have a pet dog, the owner sensing that I am afraid (well who wouldn’t when you see a person running) would say “no, bluto won’t bite, Google wont bite, our dog wont bite” etc etc.

I would be like “Well that dog’s (the one which bit me) owner also said the samething.”

    I’m sorry to know this!
But i’v (thankfully) never faced this…not even with Bangalore’s famous “angry night dogs” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
But i once did get the scare of my life too — i went to my friend’s house and her mom told us to take something tu their neighbour’s plc…we both opened the gate n walked in (around 7.30 pm) and saw a huge alsatian lying on th porch…we felt like we’d walked into a lion’s cage…this one watched us for approx 5 seconds and pounced!!my heart stopped.literally. and the only reason i’m alive and typing πŸ˜€ is because of a certain, thin, invisible leash tht managed tu stop t ‘doggie’ short, like 2 feet away from us. Bah! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

but i sill loooooooooove dogs πŸ™‚
